Weddings

Your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. As a civil celebrant, I can provide you with a wide range of choices for your ceremony. Formal to informal, spiritual, secular, your own words or words written specially for you by me, a ceremony already made or one we develop together.

Commitment Ceremonies including ceremonies for same sex couples
Many people do not wish to formally marry, either for reasons of belief or law, yet they still wish to make a public declaration of their love for one another and their intention to live together in a committed relationship.
Baby and Child Namings
The civil equivalent of baptism or christening, this allows your family, friends and neighbours to welcome your child or children into their lives, imparting a sense of belonging and sharing a sense of responsibility for this important new generation.
Renewal of Vows
As part of the celebration of important marriage milestones, the renewal of vows allows a couple to reaffirm their commitment to each other and may be made even more special with the involvement of their children or other people who are significant in their lives.
Celebration of Life - Funerals
For those who do not have an active connection with a church or organised religion, a civil celebrant can provide a ceremony in tune with your beliefs and the beliefs of the deceased person. A person's life may be celebrated at the cemetery or crematorium or at the site of a scattering of the ashes.
Civil Confirmation, Coming of Age, Menarche and Puberty Ceremonies for teenagers
Ceremony can help us to come to terms with the things that happen in our lives. Older societies (so called primitive societies and pagan societies) had many rituals and ceremonies and rites of passage to give the community and its individuals a sense of rhythm, reassurance and acceptance. Children in today's society do not often have these ceremonies of approval of their status in the family and community. If not church going, many miss out on ceremonial rites. Ceremonies can be private and personal or more formal using a celebrant.
Divorce and Separation
Ceremony is something that connects us to each other and to the place where we live. Celebrating life's transitions with friends or family, either in a small intimate group or a large group, allows us to embrace life's changes and feel supported.
Parenting Commitment
When parents separate, often the bond of parents with their children suffers. This ceremony is a way of reaffirming a parent's love and commitment to the parenting relationship when the marital or cohabitation relationship with the other parent has ended.
House Blessings
House blessings have been around for a long time, from the parish priest and further back when shamans and those of the older religions worked with the energy of spaces. Blessings for a new house or for an older house you have moved into will help to create a positive living space for you.
Other Ceremony Ideas - Motherhood, croning, fatherhood, blended families, pets...
There are so many ceremonies we can use to celebrate or mark special occasions in our lives. Using a celebrant is optional for many - the important thing is to connect with those around you in an uplifting and meaningful way, through life's passages, happy and sad.
